| Q. |
What is digital mammography? |
| A. |
The American Cancer Society recommends annual screening mammograms for women age 40+. Early detection of breast cancer increases a woman's survival rate. Digital mammography is the most advanced imaging technology available for the early detection of breast cancer. A digital mammogram uses a special detector to capture and convert x-ray energy into a digital image. Radiologists can view and manipulate the images on high-resolution computer monitors that enhance visualization of the structures within the breast tissue. |
