Pharmacy QuestionsWon’t my medications be cheaper at a chain pharmacy?Wichita Clinic employs a service that allows us to see the average prices of pharmacies in our area and we typically meet or beat those prices. Additionally, 90% of patients now have some sort of prescription insurance. With insurance, prescriptions are usually the same price no matter what pharmacy you patronize. I had my prescription filled initially at Wichita Clinic's Pharmacy after my doctor appointment. Will you mail my refills so I can save gas money? We will mail your refills at no additional charge! My prescription bottle says I have refills remaining but the pharmacy staff said the prescription was too old. Why do you have to call the physician?Kansas state law requires we call your physician every year (at a minimum) to get authorization to fill prescriptions for non-controlled substances. Controlled substance prescriptions require physician authorization more frequently. How can I find out about insurance coverage for my prescriptions or if there are assistance programs available to help me cover the cost of my prescriptions? You should always contact your prescription insurance company to find out what their prescription coverage is for medications. Additionally, you can also visit the Partnership for Prescription Assistance website. Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA) offers a step-by-step process to help identify assistance programs for individuals lacking prescription coverage. PPA may also help patients that have prescription coverage but still cannot afford the co-pays or deductibles. Finally, many manufacturers have their own patient assistance programs. |
