Angela Vincent, Clinical Research Supervisor
Angela has been with the Wichita Clinic Clinical Research Department since 2003.
She finds her job very rewarding since she gets to spend a lot of quality time with her patients. She enjoys the education that she can provide to her patients as well. In 2006, she was promoted to Supervisor of the Department. Angela is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
Angela received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Bethel College in 1993 and has worked at all the major hospitals in Wichita on a Medical/Surgical floor and in Cardiac ICU. She also helped to open the Pre-Admission Services Unit at Via Christi St. Joseph and St. Francis.
Angela also has a busy home life with her husband and 2 very active children. She is very involved with sports and activities with them. |
Karen Heaton, Clinical Research Coordinator
As a Clinical Research Coordinator, Karen enjoys the teamwork with her fellow Wichita Clinic employees and physicians, and the expanded opportunity to work with people with chronic health conditions who are participating in clinical research studies.
Karen earned her diploma in nursing in 1977, her bachelors in 1981, and her masters in 1994. She has worked in a variety of acute and community care areas, including pediatrics, obstetrics, critical care, and nursing education at the clinical and university level. Sheila Stauffer, Clinical Research Coordinator
Clinical Research is a new avenue of nursing for Sheila. She has been with Wichita Clinic since 1989, working in Immediate Care and at our Northeast Branch for Dr. Kevin Hoppock. Sheila enjoys helping people, especially educating those who may not be able to afford their health care about discounted pharmacy services, and local agencies that can provide them with assistance. In her new capacity as Clinical Research Coordinator, she enjoys the individual attention that she can provide, working with a variety of our professional physicians, along with the excitement of being involved in the ground work of getting medications tested and on the market.
Sheila is a native of Nebraska where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Nebraska. She remains an avid Husker fan. Her nursing career includes working in the hospital setting, community nursing, and the mission field in Africa. The different avenues that are available in nursing have always been exciting.
Sheila and her husband Scott, have 2 daughters, and reside in Andover. She enjoys quilting, gardening, and traveling in her spare time. |
Sandra Sparr, Clinical Research Coordinator
Sandra worked in PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) for 14 years. She has missed working with children, but loves her job and has found that she also loves working with adults. Sandra wanted the Clinical Research job because it allows her to work independently.
Many times Clinical Research Coordinators see the patients for visits and the physicians only see them a few times during the study. Coordinators have to have excellent assessment skills so they can notify the physician if something is up with the patient. The work environment is so calm and relaxed. It is so different from PICU where it was never calm.
Sandra is married and is the mother of 4 children: Brent, Matt, Zac and Nikki. She was inspired to become a nurse when one of her sons was born with congenital heart disease. She admired the nurses and doctors that helped him and wanted to give that back to other children and families. |

Ellen Patry, Clinical Research Coordinator
Ellen Patry joined the Clinical Research Department as a part-time Clinical Research Coordinator in November 2006. Prior to that time Ellen had been a nurse for 32 years, working in many different areas of the profession including health department, hospital, and nursing home settings.
In addition to graduating from Wesley School of Nursing, Ellen has continued to learn through her Certification in Utilization Review as well as the Case Manager Certification.
The Clinical Research Coordinator position gives her the opportunity to interact on a individual basis with patients and physicians. Ellen enjoys new experiences with each clinical study.
In her spare time, Ellen enjoys volunteering at the Sleepy Hollow Ronald McDonald House, walking and almost any type of crafts. Ellen also enjoys visiting her two grown boys and their wives. Eventually she hopes to add grandchildren to that list! |
