Y(our) Good HealthNot only is your good health incredibly important to us, but our good health is, too! Good health isn’t just about exercising, it also includes healthy eating, good hygiene and preventative health measures. Learn about what your healthcare team is doing to stay healthy. We also encourage you to get involved, stay in shape, and learn what you can do to improve your own overall good health. Start! ProgramWichita Clinic is enrolled as a company in Start!, a free program offered by the American Heart Association that provides tools and tips to help people track their overall health. We participate in the National Start! Day every year by wearing athletic shoes and participating in employee-coordinated activities. We continue planning activities throughout the year to help keep our employees motivated and active. Anyone can sign up for the Start! program by visiting the Start! page of the American Heart Association website. Team Wichita ClinicWe have created Team Wichita Clinic as a way to bring our employees together to work towards better health. While we hope to continue expanding the idea of Team Wichita Clinic to include all aspects of good health, we started with participating in four local non-profit walks/runs in 2009. Team Wichita Clinic participated in March of Dimes' March for Babies, the Arthritis Walk put on by the Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, and Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure. In 2010, Team Wichita Clinic has participated in Multiple Sclerosis Society's Walk MS, March of Dimes' March for Babies and American Heart Association's Heart Walk. In September Team Wichita Clinic will participate in Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure. Employees that sign up to participate walk or run together at these events and wear Team Wichita Clinic t-shirts. We would love to have our patients come join us at future events! Local Walks/Runs/ActivitiesThere are lots of local walks, runs, and activities going on in our community. Team Wichita Clinic participated in four walks in 2009, and three walks so far in 2010. Team Wichita Clinic will be at one more walk in 2010! ShapedownWichita Clinic offers Shapedown, a nationally recognized program for overweight children and teenagers and their families. The Shapedown program focuses on nutrition and exercises, stress management, family communication, self-esteem and healthy weight loss. Shapedown is offered for ages 8 and up. Parental involvement in this program is essential. DietitiansWichita Clinic has two dietitians on staff that see patients at five locations that can help you develop a dietary plan that fits your needs. Our dietitians offer assistance with many different types of concerns, including weight loss, diabetes, high blood pressure, and food allergies. Both one-on-one visits and diabetes education classes are offered by our dietitians. Preventative Health
Preventative Health is also a large part of overall good health. Being aware of your habits, knowing about screenings and immunizations, and check-ups with your doctor can lead to a healthier lifestyle. |
